Getting Started

Finding the right therapist is a very personal process and establishing good fit is essential for an optimal outcome. I often tell my clients that finding the right therapist is like finding the best pair of shoes. Some shoes may look great but when we try these on, these may not be comfortable or worse yet, they may pinch our toes. And what an experienced and compassionate therapist offers goes along the lines of the following metaphor:

“The experience of emotional overwhelm is similar to that of a shaken bottle of soda. Inside the bottle is a tremendous amount of pressure. The safest way to release the pressure is to open and close the cap in a slow, cautious and intentional manner so as to prevent an explosion.” (Rothschild, 2010)

I believe that a face to face brief conversation is the best approach to determine good fit. I offer a free 30-minute initial consultation for this purpose.

Please read about my experience and areas of speciality in the “About AnaMaria” tab. Then, If you would like to proceed, you may call me at (408) 963-6437 to schedule your consultation or select the “contact” tab above to send me a message.

Billing and Payments:

At this time, I do not accept insurance payments. However, I do have the ability to bill your insurance provider on your behalf the same day of service. If you have PPO coverage, your insurance will reimburse you at their out-of-network rate. I recommend that you contact your insurance company to inquire about your rate of reimbursement. The CPT Codes that you need to inquire about are 90791 for the Initial Assessment and 90837 for ongoing individual & family therapy sessions.

Payment can be made by check or credit card and is due the day of service.

In spite of my many years of experience, I keep reasonable rates because I believe quality treatment should be accessible to as many people as possible. The rate for an initial assessment/appointment is $225, ongoing traditional 50-minute sessions is $150. Therapist bill for a 60-minute session, but sessions end at the 50-minute mark in order to allow for proper record keeping and billing time.

The T.E.A.M Treatment Model recommends longer sessions for more rapid results and these are available and billed at $150 an hour. Please be advised that your insurance company may only reimburse for up to 60 minutes of treatment.
